How to create a wedding timeline
A clear wedding day timeline keeps vendors, family, and your wedding party on the same page. Start from a free template, lock in ceremony time, then print or save as PDF when it feels final.

Anchor on ceremony time
Everything flows from your ceremony start. Work backward for prep and photos, forward for cocktail hour and reception.

Decide first look vs. traditional
First look moves most portraits before the ceremony. Without it, you'll need cocktail hour photos — plan extra time.

Add buffer between transitions
Build in 10–15 minutes between major blocks. Weddings rarely run to the minute.

Create two versions
Vendors need detail (notes, setup times). Your wedding party needs a one-page 'where to be when' summary.

Review with photographer
Send a draft 2–3 weeks out, final version 5–7 days before. They'll catch unrealistic photo windows.
